WNED/PBS “War of 1812” Educator’s Kit

To commemorate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area partnered with WNED to make available the PBS “War of 1812” Educator’s Kit. Included in the kit is the PBS Documentary “War of 1812”, curriculum for the documentary for the elementary, middle school and high school levels and a commemorative poster. Kits have been widely distributed since 2012. To request a kit, while supplies last, please contact sara@discoverniagara.org.

Did you know?

The flow of water was stopped completely over both falls on March 29th 1848 due to an ice jam in the upper river for several hours. This is the only known time to have occurred. The Falls did not actually freeze over, but the flow was stopped to the point where people actually walked out and recovered artifacts from the riverbed!
